Hiring a company to do work at your home should be an informed decision. That’s just what Angie’s List does; they provide consumers with information about companies by organizing reviews about service and quality. It is a great way to vet out the best company for the job.
Angie’s List is all about accountability and honesty. Reviews are never anonymous, and those who post reviews must adhere to the List’s rules that are in place to avoid false reviews and to prevent companies from hi-jacking the list and using it as some sort of promotional vehicle.
Angie’s List provides reviews that are in-depth and rich in details addressing many issues like price, quality, professionalism and promptness, to name a few. As a member you also gain support if a job from a recommended company goes south. Angie’s list has a complaint and resolution department that works for the consumer to help resolve problems professionally.
It is a great way for consumers and companies to communicate and talk about issues or problem they may have. Often times a company will use the feed back from Angie’s List to know how they are doing and change procedures if needed. Thanks to the good members of Angie’s List who had these kind words for us.

Many people are using YELP as their first choice when they are choosing a certain business or service. Many small businesses believe however that Yelp is filtering their good reviews out, unless they purchase advertising. A Class Action Lawsuit was filed against YELP recently, where business owners accused the online company for distortion. They claimed that YELP promised to remove bad reviews if they advertise with them. We’ve been contacted numerously to sign up but we always declined. Their basic advertising costs $300/month and they require us to sign a minimum of one year contract. Even though we were not promised bad review removal, we believe that this could be the reason for our positive reviews disappearing and only negative showing.

Guardian Pool Fence Systems Corporate office has 3 reviews on Yelp, 2 bad and one good. You would think that most of our customers are dissatisfied with us. However when I log in to our business account I see that we have 15 filtered reviews that are NOT showing to visitors:

“If I could give a zero star I would. First appt. with the estimator went fine. I was happy with the presentation that I decided to have the install done. Made the appt for the install with the estimator since he was my point of contact. He confirmed the appt and said we were good to go on a Sat. between the hours of 8-11am. No one shows up and the estimator takes several hours to call back and apologize. Saying there was an error made at the office. Fine I understand mistakes are made. Call the office on Monday to speak with the owner. He starts off berating me saying what did I expect since they never had a signed contract from me. After explaining the story he changes his tune and offers to knock $50.00 off the $1400 contract. (Whatever!) So I make a new appt with the owner and he takes a deposit from me even though he doesn’t have a signed contract. So the appt is for the up coming Sat. between 11am and 1pm. Guess what, come 1:15pm no one shows up or calls. Estimator does not return phone calls. At 3:30pm the installer calls and says he is on his way. He tells me that he called at 1pm and left a message on the answering machine that he was running late. Interesting considering I was at home the whole time and there was no message on the machine or number on the caller ID. I point this out to him and he tells me he had poor reception. (How can he than have gotten a message machine and left a message than?) We tell him that we would like a discount on the contract for having wasted two weeks of our time. He calls the owner and all they were willing to take off was another $50.00. We proceed to tell them to not bother coming and we will take our business elsewhere. My advice is to find another company as if their service is reflective of their product and installation I can’t imagine it lasting long and having them stand behind their warranty.” – TB Monrovia

We received this fax when we completed a job in Chatsworth, Ca. The customer was clearly not happy with his previous pool fence and he explains why he likes our fence. This is one of our Pool Fence Reviews:

Guardian Pool Fence installed a pet mesh pool fence for me. My first pool fence was installed 1 1/2 years ago with poor results. The mesh began to sag and the poles leaned within a few months. When I called Mike Saber of Baby Guard Pool Fences his voice mail did not mention Baby guard. I left several messages and never received a call back.
When I called the corporate headquarters in Florida I was told Mike Saber no longer represented them. I was given a number in San Diego for their local rep. Each time I called for someone to come and repair my fence, with a lifetime guarantee, I was told he would come when there were several customers to service. He infonned me he receives many complaints about Mike Saber. I have repeatedly called the rep in San Diego with no results. Excuses excuses and more excuses.
A few months ago my Airedale Terrier began to rip the mesh and finished offthe rest of the fence. I called Guardian and met with Adam who helped me choose a new fence. This is a local company that has been in business for a long time. He showed me “pet mesh” which deters dogs from damaging the fence. Mike Saber had never offered that. Guardian installed my fence and it looks great. My dog has tried to rip it but has not been able.
Guardian scheduled an appointment in a timely manner. The installation is well done and I have not noticed any problems. Guardian left my yard looking better than before- I have confidence that should any problem occur a quick call to Adam at Guardian would resolve any matter-

LETTER FROM A CUSTOMER
It’s said in life we all get a chance to act as angels. This is never more true than in any profession that safeguards the life of a child…
When I call your company to ask about your fencing or schedule an appointment, I may end up talking to someone called a receptionist, salesperson, or even an owner of the company. In reality this “label” means very little to me. What I’m really looking for is a guardian Angel – someone who wants to help me provide protection for my child, my grandchild or neighborhood children…
When you come to my home to look at my pool, answer my questions, or show me where your fencing would be best placed, again you act as angel. If I ask too many questions or seem defensive or even arrogant, please don’t get annoyed. There’s a precious life at stake. If I’m being cheap, don’t offer me an inferior product. Tell me you value the life of my child more than a quick sale.
When you drill holes for fence poles in my yard or deck and lay out fencing, please keep in mind you are literally erecting a barrier between life and death. And while I may not show my appreciation, my child is so very thankful you take your job seriously, take your time and do your best. For after your gone, a tribute to your strong spirit stays behind, guarding the pool like a sentinel and offering protection in my absence… and in yours.
I wish I knew all the names and “human” faces of all the people that work at your company… I would imagine you have a seamstress or seamstresses, and people who cut mesh, and warehouse workers, and supervisors, and welders and drivers and accountants and only God knows how many more ANGELS there are at Guardian Pool Fence Systems who deserve the thanks of families like mine around the country… perhaps around the world. If you do not hear these thanks daily, please don’t get discouraged or think you are unappreciated. Those who are most grateful and benefit most from your services are often still unable to talk or express simple phrases of gratitude. They are the world’s littlest angels and because of you, their life goes on.
